Why Motherhood Can Trigger an Identity Crisis

No one talks enough about this.

You prepare for sleepless nights.
You prepare for nappies and feeding schedules.

You do not prepare for the identity shift.

You may wake up one day and realise:

I don’t know who I am anymore.

Your time is different.
Your priorities are different.
Your body is different.
Your social life is different.

And quietly, you might grieve who you were.

This does not make you ungrateful.

It makes you human.

Identity Is Not Lost - It’s Evolving

Motherhood doesn’t erase you.

It reshapes you.

But growth feels uncomfortable when you’re in it.

Instead of asking:
“How do I get back to who I was?”

Try asking:
“Who am I becoming now?”

Rebuilding Self-Connection

Start small:

  • What do I enjoy that isn’t productive?

  • What feels grounding to me?

  • What opinions have I been silencing?

You are allowed to expand inside motherhood.

You are not meant to shrink.
